Botox® is an effective treatment for dynamic wrinkles – one of the major types of wrinkles. Botox® relaxes the muscles and softens the lines between the eyebrows, across the forehead and around the eyes (the crow’s feet). Botox® has revolutionized these treatments, making them fast, virtually pain-free and very effective. Botox® treatments consist of several minor injections to the treated area, with the session lasting around 30 minutes. The results will take effect in 3 to 10 days and lasting up to 4 months. Repeated treatments prolong your skin’s smooth, youthful appearance and can actually prevent new lines from developing.

Dynamic wrinkles are the lines that come and go with muscle use. They are more prominent with the use of muscles or the making of facial expressions, such as smiling or frowning. These lines, over time, will become permanent. The most common areas for dynamic wrinkles are: between the eyebrows (“the 11”) the outside of the eyes (crow’s feet), the forehead and the upper lip lines. Botox has had a dramatic impact on the treatment of these lines, and not only can Botox diminish these lines, but it can also prevent them. Sometimes, when the lines have deepened, dermal fillers such as Restylane can be used along with Botox.
Crow’s Feet Wrinkles – These are the lines on the outside of the eyes that are more noticable when you smile. Crow’s feet are considered dynamic wrinkles and are best treated with Botox. Botox relaxes the muscle thus softening the wrinkle. For well advanced crow’s feet, skin resurfacing used with Botox is the treatment of choice. Sometimes, dermal fillers are used to fill in the lines as well. Laser Skin resurfacing with the Fractional Lux 1540 or the more intensive MiXto Fractional CO2 will take off the top layer of skin and allow fresh, less wrinkled skin regrow.
Botox Headache Treatment – After finding that cosmetic Botox treatments had helped patients with headaches, now Botox has been approved for headache treatment. For those with chronic headaches, the thought of decreasing or even eliminating the need for oral medicines for headaches is exciting. One treatment significantly decreases headache frequency and severity in most patients. Treatments last 40 minutes with initial history and examination, and can help headaches for up to 3 months.
Upper Lip Wrinkles – Also called lipstick bleeders or smoker’s lines, these lines are often treated with several techniques. Botox is used to relax the muscle, thus diminishing the dynamic wrinkles, the lines that come and go with the puckering of your lip. This will help take away the lines, but it is mostly preventative. Once the lines become static (lines are present without puckering), Restylane, Radiesse or Sculptra are used to stretch the lip and the skin above the lip, thus smoothing the wrinkles away. Finally, once these lines are very advanced, The MiXto fractional CO2 laser is used to resurface the lines away. Often, Botox and dermal fillers are used along with the MiXto laser skin resurfacing to maximize the results.
Botox® for the Treatment of Perspiration– Botox® is also used to decrease sweating of the hands and underarms (hyperhydrosis).
