Subcision is a minor surgical procedure used to treat acne scars on the face. Subcision can be done for individual scars or for areas of the face that have many scars.
For severe acne scarring, we combine the MiXto Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing with the Taylor Liberator - a specialized device that optimizes treatment results. The Liberator very effectively will release the tethering of the acne scar which causes the depression and the laser will blend the surface irregularity of the scarring.
This minor surgical procedure is done in the medical suite at La Fontaine Aesthetics under local anesthesia. The subcision technique is used for individual scars, often in conjunction with Bellafill the acne scar filler. Results can be permanent after 2-3 treatments. Most common side effects are swelling and bruising.
