Recommendations for Better Legs:

Ways to improve your leg veins or prevent vein disorders from occurring

Regular Exercise
Walking, running, StairMaster, aerobics, swimming, elliptical machine, or biking for 30 minutes, 5-7 days per week will help reduce aching, pain, and tiredness in your legs.

Elevate your legs
Elevating your legs above heart level for at least 10 minutes once or twice daily may diminish aching and swelling.

Move your legs frequently
Flexing your ankles 10 times will pump the blood out of your legs like walking does. Repeat this every 10 minutes while standing or sitting and try to walk for at least 2 minutes every half hour. Dr. Oleszek likes to tell his patients that are planning to travel via airplane – ‘Spell your name with your toes every 30 minutes while on the airplane.

Avoid wearing High Heels
Wearing high heels interferes with the normal pumping action that occurs when you walk and may lead to aching and cramping of the legs.

Wear Support Hose
Medical compression stockings have many benefits for patients with compromised veins. Compression will reduce the distension of veins, improve circulation and reduce swelling. At The Vein & Aesthetic Center of Denver, we offer all sizes and grades of medical compression stockings. We have the affordable brands as well as high-end stockings that any women would wear for an evening out.

We also carry CircAid, a unique support stocking, inelastic compressive device used to reduce the swelling around the leg.

At The Vein & Aesthetic Center of Denver, we hope these methods work to prevent worsening vein disease. Yet, if you need a vein consultation or any treatments for your veins, we have the most advanced diagnostics and treatments available.
