Subcision is a minor surgical procedure used to treat depressions and dimples associated with cellulite and acne scars on the face. This minor surgical procedure is done in the medical suite at La Fontaine. Subcision is one of the most effective treatments for the large dimpling or depressions associated with cellulite. For one its vitually painless and results can be permanent after 2-3 treatments or sometimes even after 1 treatment. Most common side effects are bruising (always), and some pigmentation at the treatment sites, which usually resolves in 3 months to 1 year.
After the local anesthesia is given, this procedure is virtually painless. Then a special needle is used to release the fibrous tissue that had been tethering the skin downwards, which was the cause of the original depression, dimpling or scar. Compression bandages are applied after the procedure. Patients can usually drive themselves home after the procedure. No heavy activity or hot tubs are recommended for 48 hours after the treatment, and antibiotics may be prescribed preventively.
