Most people have skin irregularities, such as warts, moles, pigmented lesions, skin tags, etc. Most of these skin growths are perfectly benign and normal, causing nothing more serious than a cosmetic concern, but some of these skin growths (especially those that change shape, color, or texture) can be premalignant or malignant. If you’re concerned you have a potentially malignant mole, you should have the mole examined and removed.

However, patients can also opt for mole removal if they have a benign mole. Just because it doesn’t pose a medical challenge doesn’t mean it can’t pose an aesthetic or emotional challenge. Some patients opt for mole removal because an unsightly mole may cause severe self-consciousness or social anxiety. Reputable skin care doctors and surgeons can now remove non-cancerous moles using minimally invasive and scarless procedures.

At La Fontaine Aesthetics, our board-certified physician offers a free virtual consultation for scarless mole removal in Denver. Dr. Ken Oleszek carefully examines your mole to ensure it’s benign (non-cancerous) and then curates the ideal treatment plan. We remove moles using the Ellman radiofrequency device for a comfortable and pain-free session that leaves no scars or incision marks, ensuring optimal cosmetic results.

Signs of a Malignant Mole

Moles and skin tags are usually benign with no attached risks or complications. However, in some cases, moles can be malignant. You can schedule a free consultation with our doctor to determine if you have a malignant mole and then discuss your mole removal options. You can also use a simple ABCD guide to determine if you have a malignant mole for yourself.

Malignant moles usually display one or several of the following physical properties:

  • Asymmetry — one half is bigger or smaller than the other
  • Border Irregularity — the border isn’t perfectly round
  • Color Variation — different parts of the mole have different shades or colors
  • Diameter — the diameter of a malignant mole is usually larger than a pencil eraser

The Ellman Radiofrequency Mole Removal Technique

The Ellman radiofrequency mole removal technique is a minimally-invasive and scarless mole removal technique that uses actual radio waves to melt the tissues forming the mole. The radiofrequency method is extremely gentle and melts the mole tissues without incisions or scars, causing little to no discomfort. The entire mole removal process, from the consultation to the removal, takes less than 20 minutes.

During your free consultation, Dr. Ken Oleszek examines your mole to determine if you’re suitable for the Ellman radiofrequency treatment. He looks for signs of malignancy—if the mole is suspicious, he recommends a biopsy. If the mole is normal and benign, he administers local anesthesia to start the treatment. He uses the Ellman radiofrequency technology to melt the mole down to the normal tissues within a few seconds.

Melting the mole leaves a raw pigmented spot on your skin. Dr. Oleszek blends the sides of the lesion to enhance cosmetic appearance. You’ll have to apply an antibiotic ointment for a few days, and the pigmented spot will gradually fade away to resemble the surrounding skin. The process is simple, safe, and produces scar-free results. Most patients can’t tell where the scar was placed originally.
