The Accent XL is a medical treatment that uses radiofrequency energy to tighten skin and shrink fat. Popular for those areas such as the abdominal wall ponch, the After-Baby tummy or love handles, that diet and excercise can’t fully remove. The Accent XL treatment does not replace liposuction. For those patients with large volumes of fat or more than 15 lbs overweight, liposuction may be a better alternative.
The abdominal area is one of our most popular areas to be treated. This area is often resistant to diet and excercise. Whether it is excess skin or resistant fat – the Accent XL can treat both, without surgery, without needles, without pain and without down-time.
Accent XL has 2 handpieces and we use both depending on the patients condition:
The bipolar handpiece targets the skin, using the radiofrequency energy to contract collagen and stimulate growth of new collagen – this reduces excess skin that is often seen in the ‘After Baby Tummy’.
The unipolar handpiece targets the subcutaneous fibrous and fatty tissue. The RF energy contracts the fibrous tissue and shrinks the fatty layer under the skin, improving the body contours and smoothing skin tone. This makes the Accent XL an effective treatment for cellulite and spot fat reduction. We essentially can target only the areas that need the reduction or smoothing – thus contouring your body.
The areas most commonly treated are: the front belly (ponch or muffin top), love handles or back (bra bulges).
During the treatment there is minimal discomfort and is often described as a warm heat sensation. The session lasts up to 1 1/2 hours and normal daily activities can be resumed afterwards. Also, after the treatment the skin will be red and warm for several hours. Swelling may occur and last upto 3 days.
Ideal patients are those less than 15 lbs overweight and able to concurrently have a good diet and excercise program. Most patients see significant results after the 3rd treatment and we recommend 6 treatments to each body area, and sometimes more depending the amount of fat or excess skin that needs to be treated.
